This ability makes him nearly impossible to kill through conventional means, as destroying one manifestation only causes it to reform or shift shape instantly.

The rain in London tasted of iron and old blood, but Alucard did not feel the cold. He stood atop a ruined cathedral spire, his coat billowing in a wind that didn't exist. Below, the streets were already dark, choked by a rising tide of black sludge that whispered with the voices of a thousand dead men. With a mere thought, the shadow surged forward, coiling around a tank like a python before bursting into a swarm of grotesque, grinning faces. The enemy soldiers screamed as their weapons dissolved into the darkness, swallowed whole by the master's endless hunger.
